I started in machine-learning research at the University of Manitoba — hyperspectral imaging, chemometrics, a peer-reviewed paper on flaxseed quality. Halfway through, I realized I liked the part where the work reached people more than the part where it stayed in a lab notebook.

So I started building for small businesses instead. A skincare brand that needed a real storefront, a barbershop that needed an identity, a law practice that needed to be findable on Google. Logos, websites, the SEO underneath — all of it shipped end-to-end by one person. The research instinct stayed: every site I build has a baseline I can measure against, and I'd rather show you a Search Console screenshot than a marketing claim.

Today the lens is product. I start with the user experience — the flows and the screens — and carry it all the way through to working web apps, mobile apps, and the automations that quietly do the work in the background. Design that ships, not just design that presents.
